Otay Mesa Detention
Center Collective
No human being is illegal.
Migration is a human right. Community involvement and presence is stronger than fear and intimidation. People inside detention centers deserve dignity, regardless of their status.
We have built a continuous and peaceful weekly solidarity vigil since November 2nd of 2025. Through our coalition partnerships across San Diego County and the greater borderlands region, we have spurred a movement for change, cultivating a direct line of communication with detainees hence creating a clear pathway toward support for commissary and phone funds. Increasing public pressure and demand to shutdown all operations and ongoing urgency for local representative and congressional oversight access.
We will continue to illuminate what is occurring at the Otay Mesa Detention Center because they depend on invisibility and public fatigue to continue their inhumane concentration like camp.
